Cetaceum, commonly known as Spermaceti is a solid wax obtained from the spermaceti organ in the head of the Sperm Whale, Physeter macrocephalus.
Habitat - Any ocean, avoiding the cooler regions near the North and South poles.
Uses - Commonly used in the production of perfume, candles and cosmetics. Medicinally used in emollients and as a demulcent - relieves irritation of mucous membranes by forming a protective film .
Characteristics - Tasteless and odourless. Translucent, pearly-white clumps with a leafy structure and a greasy texture. When combined with alcohol creates a powdery substance.
