One of the museum’s collection of ten death masks.
On the back of this death mask is engraved the number 299, and that is was made 8 Jan 1825 by J. DeVille 367 Strand. James DeVille (1777-1846) was the leading phrenologist of London in the 1820s and 1830s, and made over 5000 casts taken from people at his premises 367 Strand, London.
